Life can be overwhelming. Sometimes an outside force knocks us down. Sometimes our relationships become unmanageable. Sometimes just being inside our own heads can be unbearable.
Whatever reason you’re looking for a therapist, I know how hard it can be to reach out for help. As someone whose life has been positively changed by therapy, I’d like to take a moment to say, hey, good for you. You’re doing something to make your life better. That’s something to feel good about.
Hello. I’m Jessica Zelenko. My goal as a graduate level therapist intern is to create a space where you can bring your full self with no pressure or judgement.
I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a lot of helpful questions and tools. I can work with you to help you figure out what is best for you. Things can get better.
I enjoy helping individuals, couples, and groups with the following issues:
Life transitions
Anxiety
Depression
Relationship issues
Career confusion
Negative self-esteem
Stress and burnout
Trauma
Grief
Implementing better habits
My work combines mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), existential theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
It is important to me to get to know you. We’ll explore your goals, and if you don’t have goals already, we’ll create them together. I want to help figure out what is standing in the way of you having peace and success in your life and relationships.
I strive to bring compassion, honesty, and humor to our work together. We will be building resources to make living easier and more fulfilling. Sometimes the process may involve working through difficult feelings or memories. This work can be hard, but it is always with the greater goal of making your present and future life better.
Outside of work and school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband and son get me out of my comfort zone with video games and science experiments. I also like to spend time traveling and hiking. Being in nature is where I find the most peace. A good book and a cozy day at home also fills my cup.
I am a graduate level therapist intern at Midwestern State University who is supervised by Linda A. Ramsey, LPC, LMFT-S.
