Brie Martin
Hi, I’m Brie! I am a graduate level intern Therapist supervised by Linda A. Ramsey LPC, LMFT at Mindful Wellness Center of Austin.
I have a BA in Psychology and am a candidate for a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Saint Edward's University, expected to graduate in May of 2027.
A little about me as an individual:
Outside of school and counseling, I am a naturalist and gardener. I also love Pokemon and listening to audiobooks. I am neurodivergent and have chronic conditions that can be disabling. I am highly sensitive and a direct communicator. I am in the LGBTQIA+ community, anti-racist, sex positive and kink-friendly, and sex-work affirming.
My practice is first and foremost feminist and relational. This means I avoid pathologizing behavior and frame presenting concerns as protective mechanisms and manifestations of distress. I incorporate egalitarianism, intersectionality, empowerment, and advocacy into the counseling process. I believe in empowering clients through authentic connection and collaboration. My aim as your therapist is to narrow the power differential between myself and my clients to support the development of trust and safety. I bring my expertise in mental health, but I believe you, as the client, are the expert in your life. In our sessions, your voice is uplifted and centered, and you can share without fear of judgment.
I take a biopsychosocial approach to mental health and well-being. I take not only the individual’s traits into account, but also social and cultural influences such as identity, systemic oppression, and passed down beliefs. I look to (dis)connection to the land and ancestral practices to support therapeutic growth. Additionally, I consider the whole person and the relationship between physical health and mental health when progressing towards therapeutic goals.
As your therapist, I believe my role is to hold up a mirror to reveal your internal experiences as we explore your inner world and work toward collaboratively developed therapeutic goals. I will model self-compassion, humility, and vulnerability to foster the development of a strong therapeutic alliance. We will spend a lot of time processing and unpacking emotions. I also will provide psychoeducation when appropriate. I believe in transparency in the therapeutic process and one aspect of that is, when beneficial for the client, providing rationale behind therapeutic techniques or routes of exploration.
I am most interested in assisting with the following:

Developmental Trauma
