Sophie Stewart, LMSW
I believe therapy can help us understand the stories we inherited, the roles we learned to play, and the parts of ourselves we had to quiet to survive.
My approach is real, imperfect, warm, and grounded in curiosity, humor, and compassion. In our work together, we'll make space for more honesty, compassion, and choice.
I draw from mindfulness, self-compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and somatic awareness to help clients better understand themselves and the patterns that shape their lives. Together, we make sense of what you’ve been carrying, how you’ve learned to move through the world, and what might help you feel more connected, honest, and free.
I'm especially passionate about working with people navigating:
Anxiety and depression
Complex trauma and attachment wounds
Grief and loss
Family dynamics and relationship patterns
Perfectionism, burnout, and compassion fatigue
Identity exploration and major life transitions
Disordered eating, body image, and compulsive exercise
Feeling disconnected from themselves or others
Substance use
My path toward this work has been shaped by both clinical training and lived experience. I understand how loss and instability can shape the nervous system and the way we move through relationships and the world. Because of this, I hold deep respect for the resilience people develop to survive difficult experiences, and for how vulnerable it can feel to begin healing.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in nonprofit and community mental health settings supporting foster youth, families, survivors, and individuals navigating complex systems and transitions. That work continues to shape my belief that healing doesn't happen in isolation. It happens in safe relationships, in moments of being truly seen, and in learning that your story makes sense.
At the heart of my work is the belief that people carry deep wisdom within themselves. Sometimes they just need someone beside them who can help them feel safe enough to trust it.
Outside of therapy, I find joy in animals, yoga, nature, travel, music, art, movement, and a good dose of reality TV. I love exploring new places and cultures, and I'm endlessly curious about the ways humans create meaning, connection, and belonging.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Substance Use Disorders. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Texas State University in 2025 and practice under the clinical supervision of Catherine Gobel, LCSW-S.
